Hey everybody! For those of you who haven't been to my space just yet http://joeycsc1988.spaces.live.com for a full update!
i have settled in nicely here and have my own room. I got my bike the other day and it is absolutely amazing! I met 90% of the team today and we all got along just fine. I was supposed to do my first race today as a support role, and to protect the main riders in the team for as long as I could. But a sore throat yesterday put an end to that!

Other than crashes and climbing, I'm doing just fine and keeping out of trouble as best I can... Almost got hit by a car that shot through a gap in the traffic, but it wasn't too bad. It missed me by a metre, and missed Chris by about..... half a metre or so!

It is very strange waking up every morning and the birds sound different, people speak Afrikaans and the blacks are selling Pirate DVDs, toys, CDs and other junk at the traffic lights. Its a buzz from morning to night!

I've been told today that we get new bikes next year, with a new design and even lighter total weight. It's weird having all this expensive stuff thrown at me... "Do you like Campag or Vuelta? Because you get a vuelta wheelset for racing next year... hope you don't mind." I mean geezz.... what about Shimano?!? Marketing here is very big indeed. If someone see's you riding for CSC Marcello, on an awesome bike with top components, then they go to the shop a day later, and enquire about it and spend a wad of cash on whatever they want to buy. But the teams publicity is also very important, and we make a point of greeting other riders and generally being approachable.

Well I have to get some sleep. This virus I have is pretty tiring, so I need an early bed. Long day tomorrow too. But I get to sleep in at least. I only have to get up at 7am instead of 530am. Bonus!

Check my space for the latest goss about the race today. Link again; http://joeycsc1988.spaces.live.com

Bye for now... I have to go feed Chino the dog now. He's the craziest Chiwahwa I have ever seen. Has the opinion that he is a bulldog instead of a lapdog.

Miss you all heaps.
Joey
