23 December 2008 - Update from Joey Hi everyone, 14 November 2008 - 2008 In Review for Joey Just a quick update from SA to let you know what's been going on lately! I've been feeling strong on the bike, although I'm also starting to feel the effects of a long year of racing, moving, living by myself, and racing a bit more.. From a cycling perspective, I am at my very peak right now, riding better than I ever have, and it is an awesome feeling while it lasts! I can feel now, that my form is starting to take a slow dip, as my body starts thinking "no more".
10 September 2008 Hi Again Everyone at Illawarra CC... It has been a long time between updates, and I'm sure by now you are wondering what has happened to me in this space of time! Many things have happened, and every moment in the past month has taught me a lot in life. Let me start from the start... Read More about Joey as he enjoys South Africa
15 May 2008 It's raining and windy here in Cape Town so the motivation levels go up and down. Up when you wake up, and down when you look outside to see driving rain... For the 12th day in a row!! But still it beats riding on an indoor trainer, so I don the wet weather gear and hit the road. Moving to a new area, I don't know my way around that well yet, but I know where some good climbs are, like Ou kaapse Weg (old Cape Way) and Chapmans Peak, which is a very fast climb. There is also a climb called Kommetjie, and Slaangkop, and both of these are short, but nice and steep. Good for intervals! 15 April 2008 It's been a while since my last email to everybody, but I've been really flat out! Some exciting stuff has happened if you haven't been to my Space to read it all. I've just recently completed working with the MTN pro MTB team on the Cape Epic 2008 as an assistant mechanic, just for the experience. The team did well beating several world champions and ex champs to finish 3rd overall in the 9 day event. And needless to say I learnt a hell of a lot!
5 February 2008 Hi everyone. Long time since my last email, I know. I'm having a great time here and have racked up my 4th race as the team domestique ( worker ) It is very hard here, and the way the races are ridden makes it organised chaos! There are always a lot of attacks as teams battle it out for podium honours. And now that the season has just started, everyone wants to be the leading team.
29 December 2007 Hey everybody hope you've all been keeping well. i've bee riding a whole heap here.. funny that! No it's actually been really awesome. i got my arse kicked every day when I first arrived, but now after a month I'm starting to feel alot more comfortable in the training and the distances we have done. We average about 120km a day, depending on what we are doing.
