Race Information - Pointscore Ladder

The Illawarra Cycle Club has introduced a pointscore system for its members. This pointscore is not just for those that are racing but those that are assisting the Club in various ways such as running Club races and attending Club Meetings.

Can you see your name? If not, you better come out and race and assist the Club to go from strength to strength!

How the Pointscore works:

2007/2008   ICC Summer point score

Aim: To increase club membership participation and teamwork and camaraderie between members

1. The pointscore to be inclusive of all members based on attendance to club events.
2. All members to promote and encourage the pointscore with attendance
3. Pointscore to include points for race results, attending club monthly meetings and marshalling and race organization roles on race day.
4. The Pointscore to be posted weekly on the web site by Administrator so all members can see the pointscore.(This is a must)
5. Trophies to be made for the first 3 place getters of the pointscore for the 2007/08 season
6. Pointscore updates are to be emailed out to members.
7. Promotion of the pointscore to be encouraged with mention in the media publicity report once a month

How it Works.

• Points awarded to places in all 4 grades of races on weekly basis. (Grades A,B,C,D)
  • 1st = 5 points
  • 2nd =4 points
  • 3rd = 3 points
  • 4th = 2 points
  • 1 point for entering
  • 1 point for finishing a race
• 2 wins in a graded Scratch race and move up a grade and take 100% of the points with you.
• Move down a grade (at the handicappers discretion only) Forfeit 50% of your points
• Marshalling Duties
  • Commissarie for the day = 5 points
  • Time keeper = 4 points
  • Accredited Traffic controller = 3 points
  • Other Marshalling Duties = 2 points
  • Member who drives out with signage extra 1 point
  • Members who nominate to do more than their allocated marshalling duties will therefore get the chance to gain extra points. The emphasis is on helping out and doing your marshalling duties to ensure the race go ahead smoothly and safely
• Monthly Club Meetings.
  • All club members who attend receive 3 full points to their pointscore. Members must be present to sign the attendance sheet.
  • So in Theory, The pointscore could be won by the club person who turns up every week and races and does not figure highly in the results. Or by a Strong Club person who does behind the scenes work like the treasurer or the president.
• Time Trial Rules
  • Points could be awarded in the Individual Time trial Based on the last Grade that you rode.
    Eg. If you place 18th on the day overall in the ITT
    But you raced in C grade the last ICC race you could be 4th best C grader in the  Individual Time trial. Therefore 4th place = 2 points.
