Final tally for the ICC Track Championship and Individual Point Score Comp are presented below:

Congratulations to Chris Murray as the 2010/2011 ICC Track Champion ~ third year in a row !!!.     

Congratulations also to the divisional winners in the Track Championship and Point Score Comp. Acknowledgement of your success will occur at the Club Presentation Night later in the year. You will have to wait until then to find out who won the gong for the Best Junior and Most Improved Rider.

We have had an accident free FNTR season on the Unanderra Track thanks mainly to Club Members and visitors riding with an appropriate attitude and showing courtesy to other riders. There were a few close calls where luck and bike handling skills fortunately fell our way.

The high standard of racing at FNTR has contributed to ICC Juniors being prominent on the podium at all the track opens and in all events at the 2011 NSW Junior Track Championships. ICC Juniors now hold seven State Titles in age divisions from U13 through to U17. Four of our Juniors in the NSW Junior Track team. The Illawarra Open was the best track open in NSW this track season.

So to sum it up it up : Illawarra Cycle Club has had a great track season.

FNTR requires a lot of behind the scenes organising and effort so thanks must go to:

•   Heather and Mick Mitrevski for their tireless effort in running the sign on desk and providing after race goodies and general support.
•   Marcel & Joanne Pignatelli and Rosanne Mullany for staffing and running the finishing line. It is a high pressure job, especially when the racing is close.
•   Kieran Heffernan who was always on hand and ready to pitch in when commissaires were thin on the ground.

For Track Season 2011/2012 and beyond, members and parents of Junior riders will be rostered to run each FNTR. Full details will be promulgated well before the start of next track season, but it will work along the lines that if you are not on the roster, you don’t get to race at FNTR.

Good luck to the Masters for the upcoming NSW and Aust Championships.

It is probably safe to call the winners of the Individual Point Score comp in all grades but second and third place in B Grade is still open.

Women:

Bridget Mullany v Jasmine Arnold. Winner v Catherine McInnes in Semi 2. Loser v Holly Heffernan in Semi 1

Men Div 1

At the conclusion of racing we will announce the Track Championship Results and the Point Score Comp Winners and also present the shield to the Best Junior and Most Improved Rider.

Twenty four riders turned out for the first FNTR for 2011. A short shower of rain just after 8 pm followed by a longer shower resulted in racing being abandoned at about 8:15 pm.

Program for 14 Jan 11:

In other news: 

• ICC was well represented at the Sydney Christmas Track Carnival with several Seniors and Juniors making it to the podium winning cash and prizes.
•  ICC was very well represented at the Goulburn Track Power Carnival and NSW Southern Division Track Championships over the weekend 8/9 Jan 2011 with nine Seniors and eleven Juniors competing during the weekend.
• Almost all of the ICC contingent made it to the Southern Division podium, however Wagga Wagga prevailed and regained the Joan Knight Shield. 
• The ICC U15 & U17 juniors will be in action at DGV next Saturday for the NSW Scratch Race Championships. Our U15s and U17s are in great form so come along and cheer them on. Racing starts at 2pm

Results and Point Score for Round #1 for the 2010/11 ICC Track Championship are attached. Individual Point Score is also attached.

Thirty three members took advantage of the ideal conditions to compete in Round #1 of the 2010/11 ICC Track Championship. There was some great racing to be seen as well as one of the biggest Italian Pursuits in recent years to end the night.

Riders of note in Round #1 of the Championship were:

a. Zara Brown ~ put in a great effort on her very first bike race.

b. Bridget Mullany ~ used her restricted gearing with great impact.

c. Bradley Heffernan ~ 3^rd fastest ITT time of the night.

d. Leigh Jackson ~ great display of track craft in the match sprints.

e. Chris Murray ~ showed us a how a World Time Trial Champion does business.

Thanks must go to Kieran Heffernan, Mick Mitrevski and Marcel Pignatelli for keeping the racing flowing efficiently, and to Heather Mitrevski and Jo Heffernan for the after race goodies.

Members who missed Round #1 may compete in the remaining three rounds of the Championship Series.

FNTR is now in Christmas recess and will resume on Friday 7 Jan 11.

You must present your 2011 race licence or satisfactory proof that your affiliation has been renewed prior to sign on. No licence = no race. No exceptions !

Twenty riders risked getting drenched with the weather radar promising a storm running in from the north west.

The rain stayed away and a full program of racing was completed.

Riders of Note were:

• Les Hewitt who showed great sprinters legs to streak away and take a win in the C Grade Derby heat.
• Bradley Murray with two wins from three in B Grade.
• Dirk Roshier with three wins from three in A Grade

Congratulations to Dennis Fitzgerald on his promotion to B Grade.

• Mitchell Wright who is making great progress in the Junior Division

• Jake Stuart took a lap on the B Grade bunch to secure the win in the 50 Lap Points Race
• Bradley Heffernan in A grade.

A very big thank you to Damien Duncan for donating his time and energy to undertake electrical work on the ground and in the air to get the lights fully functional.

In other Track Cycling news:

Holly Heffernan (JW17) and Bridget Mullany (JW15) won the 2010 Jnr Sydney Cup on Wheels in their respective age division.

Bradley Murray had his first ever ride on DGV at the Jnr Sydney Cup on Wheels Carnival. He was riding above the blue line after a few laps and put in a good performance in the JM17 division.

The first ever NSW U17 Madison Championship featured two ICC Juniors. Bradley Heffernan paired up with Harrison Carter (Bathurst) and Bridget Mullany (JW15) paired up with Hollee Simons (JW15 ~Bathurst). Heffernan/Carter put in a sterling performance to take the Silver medal in the 60 lap thriller.

A lot of hard work was done this morning at velodrome working bee.

Forty two riders took advantage of the clear sky and a temperature of 25 degrees to turn out for the first kierins and motor paced events for the 10/11 season.

A small group of spectators gathered to watch the fantastic racing.

Riders of note were:

A Grade ~ Bradley Heffernan was relentless in the 50 Lap Scratch race.

B Grade ~ Breakaway by Dave Russell and Dirk Roshier in the 50 lapper

C Grade ~ Natasha Mullany in the C Grade 35 lap scratch race.
