Conditions were surprisingly moderate for the 28 starters in the lap and a half TT format. The south-westerly abated enough to make it quite ‘pleasant’ and sunny.
The usual assortment of TT bikes and paraphernalia was present, with an increasing number of TT helmets (mostly approved Limar). Jeff Gray’s marshalling team were present in full force and did a great job keeping everyone safe.
Jackson Law had an outstanding ride to almost break 40minutes. Craig Paul also had a great ride. Lou Caruana and Hans Battard had their usual joust, but alas Hans’ legs and 20 years disc wheel were not up to beating Lou this time.
Earl Rasmussen showed great improvement with his new TT gear. Rob Calladine and Wally Erven had another very close bout in the over 55 segment, with Rob taking it out by 0.48 of a second!
Justin Coulson also had an outstanding result today and has obviously been in the secret TT training grounds. Young Brad Murray, beaten by dad and 26 seconds, will be washing the car and bikes this week, as will Tim Newing who was beaten by dad Peter.
Hard luck story and most remarkable finish goes to Brett McIntosh, who after puncturing on the way to Don’s Farm, punctured again in the TT at the bridge turn and rode back with no air in the front tyre. To still get 48minutes is unbelievable.!
Llyod Egan rode the first lap well, but without Sandra to chase, slowed somewhat on the final lap.
As if an individual TT wasn’t tough enough, Alex Verdi again turned up on his disc wheel fixie. How does he get up Marshall Mount on that thing?
Evergreen and oldest statesman, Juan, again rode a gutsy TT. Kerry Seadon shows improvement in each race as does Terry Welsh.
If I missed out mentioning you this time, well done and see you at the Club Champs.
The Club Championship TT is on 10 July, distance is 18km, and everyone competes in their own age group.
