Illawarra Cycle Club - Road Racing

The Illawarra Cycle Club races on the roads around West Dapto covering various distances depending upon the season. Races in Summer range from 18km Time Trials to 36km Scratch and Handicap races. During Winter, the distances range from 27km up to 60km+ scratch races.

With in excess of 200 club members and average attendance each weekend of between 30 and 50 riders, the Illawarra Cycle Club can provide you with a great range of racing an competition to help improve your racing.

What if you are in it for fun? Well come along anyway. We cater for all levels and if you are only it for the fun or fitness aspect of the sport, then that is fine too. You don't have to be Cadel Evans or Robbie McEwan or even Lance Armstrong to be a part of the sport.

Southern Division Road Championships

The southern Division Road Championships are scheduled to be held on 28th March 2010 at Breadalbane just south of Goulburn.

Make sure that you get your entries in by 12th March 2010 as there will be NO late entries for this event. Please provide your name and your entry fee to your Club. Note that only members of the Southern Division clubs are permitted to enter this event.

Those not riding are asked to assist in the running of the event.

24 January 2010 - Time Trial

What a great turnout for a morning whose weather began as ‘iffy’ and turned into “perfect” for a TT.

The usual TT specialists were in force today, with a few new members signing up as well. Perfect conditions would mean good times and so it was. Aaron Donnelly recorded fastest time with a blistering 25:39, not enough to beat Jono Hall’s record. However, the course is now longer (past the old hall, on the flat). There were many best times, including Tim Losco, who with a borrowed TT hardtop, recorded a sub 30min. Ernie Hall once again showed class with an excellent 31:13 and shaving a few seconds off his previous time.

Summer Time Trial Series

The Summer Time Trial Series begins on Nov 15th. Individual TT’s will be 18.6km (1 lap) and the 2 person will be 2 laps. (Feb 21st)

Results for each grade will still be added to the normal summer pointscore. 5 for 1st etc, down to 1 point for starters.

We will ALSO be a running a separate Time Trial Competition which will be based on your INDIVIDUAL AVERAGE VARIATION in time from the first TT to the 3rd. Your variation for the FIRST TT will be taken from the 50 year records of the British TT association tables (see attachment- there are no comparable Australian Records). Getting BELOW your age standard is GOOD (minus). For the second and third TT your variation will be compared with YOUR first TT. Both + and – will be used to calculate your AVERAGE variation. This allows all ages, grades and sexes to compete against each other. A cash prize will be awarded to the first FIVE placegetters for the series. You must compete in at LEAST 2 TT’s to be eligible. You will have to place your AGE next to your name when signing on please.
