PostHeaderIcon Summer Time Trial Series

The Summer Time Trial Series begins on Nov 15th. Individual TT’s will be 18.6km (1 lap) and the 2 person will be 2 laps. (Feb 21st)

Results for each grade will still be added to the normal summer pointscore. 5 for 1st etc, down to 1 point for starters.

We will ALSO be a running a separate Time Trial Competition which will be based on your INDIVIDUAL AVERAGE VARIATION in time from the first TT to the 3rd. Your variation for the FIRST TT will be taken from the 50 year records of the British TT association tables (see attachment- there are no comparable Australian Records). Getting BELOW your age standard is GOOD (minus). For the second and third TT your variation will be compared with YOUR first TT. Both + and – will be used to calculate your AVERAGE variation. This allows all ages, grades and sexes to compete against each other. A cash prize will be awarded to the first FIVE placegetters for the series. You must compete in at LEAST 2 TT’s to be eligible. You will have to place your AGE next to your name when signing on please.

AS WELL, after each TT, place your NUMBER in the box for the draw for some nice bottles. Teams Wog and Kiama have donated wine to make the TT’s this season memorable and eventful. Juniors will not be eligible for this draw.

JUNIORS
I am looking for someone or a team to sponsor the Junior TT Competition. Age Standards will not apply, only each individual’s personal variationfrom one TT to the next will determine the outcome.

2 PERSON TT Feb 21
This will runs as a separate competition over 37km. Prizemoney for first 3. Places will be calculated using each individual’s AGE STANDARD and AVERAGING that time which will be then compared with the Team’s recorded time. The team with the LOWEST variation will be the winning team. Start calculating yours!!!

CYCLE NSW TT Rules
Please acquaint yourself with CNSW rules regarding aero bars and time trial helmets particularly.

INTERESTING WEBSITES for TT

aerodynamic wheels:
“Most people don’t realize that a non-aero helmet creates four times the drag of a non-aero wheel set. So you can spend two thousand dollars on a wheel set, or spend two hundred on a helmet and be faster. How you put your race number on matters more than having an aero wheel;. Then there’s water bottle placement: On a round-tubed frame, having a bottle on your seat tube is more aerodynamic than not having one at all, and it’s much more aero than putting it on the down tube. And wearing gloves in a time trial will slow you down more than using a non-aero front wheel.”

Wal Erven, on behalf of the ICC Committee.
