The Illawarra Cycle Club is the only cycle club in the Illawarra to offer track (velodrome) racing. Our track, Wollongong Velodrome, is located on the Princes Hwy, Unanderra.

As usual there was some good racing, especially in B Grade.

The feature race for the final Point Score night will be the Westwood and Russell Junior Wheel Race. Prize money for this race has been kindly donated by David Russell.

The start list for the 2010 ICC Track Championship as at 28 Feb 2010 can be viewed on the web site. Entries close on 12 March 2010.

ICC Juniors Excel at NSW Junior Championships

Five Illawarra Cycle Club U15 and U17 riders bagged one Gold, four Silver and two Bronze medals at the NSW Junior Track Championships at Dunc Gray Velodrome over the weekend 20/21 Feb 2010.

The ICC juniors claimed the U15W Individual Pursuit Gold medal and were prominent in the U15 and U17 Individual Time Trial and Sprint bringing home a swag of Silver and Bronze medals.

The NSW Track Championships were the culmination of many months of hard training by the riders and lots of driving and running around by their parents.

Congratulations to all of the ICC Juniors for a great effort.

Country Champions Claim State Title

NSW Under 15 Country Track Cycling Champions Bradley Heffernan and Bridget Mullany teamed up with Illawarra Cycle Club team mate, Matthew Pignatelli, to claim the Gold Medal in the NSW Under 15 Team Sprint Championship at The Dunc Gray Velodrome in Sydney on 6 Dec 2009.

A minor mechanical problem just before the start resulted in the decision to change the starting order which resulted in the perfect race combination. The Illawarra youngsters qualified fastest with a time of 58.678 sec which put them into the major final to ride off for the Gold Medal and the NSW Championship title.

Matthew Pignatelli gave the Illawarra team an almost perfect start and they quickly came together into a tight line, building speed as they came out of turn two.

Bridget Mullany rode a fantastic second lap which set Bradley Heffernan up for a sizzling final lap to claim the Gold Medal and the State Title.

The Illawarra Cycle Club team shaved 0.25 sec off their qualifying time and beat their opponents from the Central Coast Cycle Club by over 1.5 seconds.
